THE Penang government is inviting Kampung Valdor leasehold landowners to participate in a crucial dialogue session this March, aimed at guiding them through the lease renewal application process and securing extended leases with exclusive benefits.

During a Chinese New Year dinner at SJKC Kampung Valdor on the mainland today, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow encouraged landowners to seize this opportunity to renew their leases without delay.

In an earlier dialogue this year, Chow introduced the government’s initiative to extend leasehold lands to 99 years, coupled with attractive premium discounts.

The proposal was warmly received by the majority of landowners.

Chow underscored the importance of the leasehold renewal process, which extends beyond residential lands to include livestock farms and small-scale businesses.

“I strongly urge those interested in this offer to act swiftly.

“Representatives from the state Land and Mines Office will be present during the dialogue to provide direct assistance with applications,” Chow said, emphasising the convenience and support available.

Chow also highlighted the positive impact of transitioning livestock farms to closed farming systems, which has successfully addressed pollution concerns.

“These measures not only ensure the sustainability of the pig farming industry in Penang but also create better living conditions for nearby communities,” he added, praising the efforts of farm operators in embracing environmentally friendly practices.

Addressing challenges faced as he approaches the end of his tenure, Chow acknowledged criticisms from certain quarters but reaffirmed his dedication to Penang’s development.

“The trust and support of the people is my greatest motivation.

“I am committed to pushing forward initiatives that benefit the state and its citizens,” he said, pledging to make the most of his final term as Chief Minister.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik and Jawi assemblyman H’ng Mooi Lye.

With the upcoming dialogue session offering landowners tailored assistance and long-term benefits, the Penang government anticipates strong participation from the Kampung Valdor community.
