THE Penang International Halal Hub (PIHH) Development Sdn Bhd has officially rebranded itself by changing its name to Penang Halal International Sdn Bhd (PHI) as part of the company’s strategy to bring halal industry and the economy of Penang to greater heights.

It also has come up with a new logo.

PHI chief executive officer Aida Lim Abdullah said the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) had approved the change of the new name on July 10 this year.

“The new company name and branding are to enhance the clarity of the company’s vision, mission, objective and purpose.

“Meanwhile, the logo consists of a logomark and a wordmark. The logo carries a modern and sophisticated approach to convey the confidence and trustability of PHI on a global scale.

“Both the name and logo also represent our aspiration to drive inclusivity of industry participants and business community to strive towards ‘Shariah, Halal & Toyyiban’ way of life.

“But, the key purpose of the rebranding is to highlight that PHI will continue to build, develop and grow the halal industry and guide the business entities to be more competitive in both domestic and international markets,” Aida said in her speech before Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow launched the PHI new name and logo at Hotel Jen in George Town today.

Also present was state Domestic Trade, Consumer Affairs and Entrepreneurship Development Committee chairman Datuk Abdul Halim Hussain.

Chow thanked PHI for the amazing effort and dedication in guiding and developing entrepreneurs by organising talks and courses over the years.

Chow was delivering his speech before launching the PHI new name and logo at Hotel Jen in George Town

“The effort by PHI can increase the understanding and at the same time, enhance the entrepreneurial skills of those in the halal industry.

“It is my fervent hope that with these initiatives, each and everyone of us will gear up momentum to revive the entrepreneurial spirit and drive the economy of our state and country,” he said.

According to Chow, the rebranding and clarity of the company name as Penang Halal International Sdn Bhd would help to direct and attract more international investors and businesses to look at Penang.

“We want them to make Penang as their preferred destination for halal investment and halal marketplace,” he added.

The halal company was established in 2008 by the then Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to facilitate and promote the halal industry in Penang.

It provides a platform for numerous initiatives aiming at supporting the local and international halal industry through regional and international partnerships with stakeholders.
