A PENANG hotel has made the country proud by clinching the highly coveted Best Hotel Design award at the International Travel Awards gala event here.
Built and managed by M Summit Group, The Granite Luxury Hotel submitted an entry for the international contest which saw thousands of hotels worldwide vying for honours.
Receiving the award in Dubai on Saturday night (June 17, 2023) were group managing director Datuk Albert Moh, general manager Moh Wei Ren and corporate communications manager Ng Su-Ann.
Albert said: “This recognition is truly humbling. We are so honoured to be recognised by an international body for our commitment to creating exceptional and innovative hotel spaces.
“These spaces not only provide comfort and luxury but also tells a story—a story that reflects the rich culture and heritage of Penang and Malaysia, while embracing innovation and pushing boundaries.
“We dedicate this win to Penang folk, the state government, loyal patrons and our dedicated team who have all supported us in this journey. Without them, we wouldn’t be bringing this trophy back to Penang.”
Wei Ren said the accolade was also a true reflection of the hotel’s relentless efforts to redefine the hospitality landscape.
“We hope the award will help boost Penang’s tourism in the international arena. During the cocktail session in the gala event, three of us promoted our island state’s myriad attractions and street food to the other international award winners,” he enthused.
Ng said the competition was quite challenging because a big part of it was based on public voting.
“It is hard to predict the outcome. Every vote counts and we are thankful to everyone who took the trouble to show their support by voting for us.”
Out of 4,000 nominations from 70 countries, only 200 or 5% were announced as winners at the gala night in Dubai.
Last year, The Granite bagged two awards for Best Luxury Real Estate Developer and Best Luxury Commercial Development from the Luxury Lifestyle Awards in New York.
It also adjudged as the Best Leisure Development and Best New Hotel Design & Architecture at the Asia Pacific Property Awards ceremony in London.
Two of its facilities have entered the Malaysia Book of Records for being the Highest Acrylic Bottom Swimming Pool and Tallest Automated Hotel Car Park.
