THE first-ever Penang-India summit is set to be held in Penang tomorrow (March 25), with the participation of local industry players and those from India.
Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo shared that,the ‘Penang India Future Forward Summit 2025’ will take place for four days from tomorrow to March 28 at St Giles Hotel.
Jagdeep said that the three main objectives of the summit are, firstly, to explore bilateral investments between Penang and India in the areas of the Electric and Electronic (E&E) industry, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Smart Manufacturing.
Secondly, to address the role of science and technology in shaping our future workforce.
Thirdly, to focus on how Penang and India can strengthen semiconductor and Electric and Electronic (E&E) supply chains, ensuring greater sustainability, resilience, and regional competitiveness.

“This summit is a follow-up to my official trip to Chennai, India, last year, where I met with many government and industrial leaders.
“During the trip, I met with over 160 people from 52 agencies, fostering ties and initiating partnerships in education such as the Science,Technology,Engineering, Mathematics (STEM ) learning and scholarships, medical technology, innovation, and affordable housing.
”I also visited the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, which spans nearly 500 hectares, consists of 500 buildings, and has 50,000 students.
“Maybe, one day we can build a similar facility on our scale in Penang, and most importantly, we want to ensure we have the talent.
“That is why, as soon as I returned to Penang, I made sure that this summit would follow suit. We would like to welcome all Penangites to come and join the summit,” he added.
Among the dignitaries that will be present are Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and High Commissioner of India to Malaysia B.N Reddy.
