PENANG Institute has appointed Dr. Lim Kim Hwa as its new chief executive officer and head of Economics after a unanimous decision by its board of managers.

Lim, a Fellow in Finance and Financial Reporting from the University of Cambridge, expressed his wish to help further the institute’s endeavours to the best of his abilities.

A qualified chartered accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Lim also holds a Ph.D and M.Phil in Finance.
He was appointed to this position on March 21, taking over from ex-CEO, Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari, who is now executive director of Penang Institute.
With its tagline, “Making Ideas Work”, the Penang Institute, established in 1997 as the Socio-economic and Environmental Research Institute (Seri), aims to spur bold thinking in the key areas of economics in Penang.

Their main goal is to function as a think-tank for Penang, transforming the state into an international and intelligent city, giving new ideas and materialising them into beneficial efforts in Penang’s economics, socio-politics and sustainable development.
