OUTDOOR advertising for ‘Experience Penang Year (EPY) 2020’ on bus shelters, Rapid buses and link bikes was launched today.
State Tourism, Heritage, Culture and Arts Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said the launching of EPY2020 was a way to showcase every aspect of Penang’s amazing diversity in culture, heritage, arts, food and so on.
So far, the launching involved 200 link bikes, five bus shelters and five Rapid buses.
“The advertising and promotions of EPY2020 will be an ongoing effort for this year as to draw a larger influx of visitors in year 2020,” Yeoh told a press conference during the launching of outdoor advertising for EPY2020 at Prestige Hotel, George Town on July 2.
“Our tagline ‘The Diversity of Asia’ is a testament to Penang’s rich diversity reflected through its tourism, heritage, culture, vibrant festival, food, modern amenities, splashy seaside excursions and many other aspects which made Penang one of the most memorable places to visit.
“There will be many promotions organised both locally and abroad in the coming months as we gear up to 2020.
“Likewise, EPY2020 campaign is also featuring an online booking platform, experiencepenang.com.my where Penang’s attractions are highlighted and tour packages offered at attractive prices.”
To further spice up the EPY2020, Penang is the first state to partner with TikTok in Malaysia for #TikTokTravel as an initiative to promote the campaign.
It includes bespoke filters and stickers plus an online challenge, #experiencepenang which has hit over 20 million views after being launched two weeks ago.
According to Yeoh, tourists who enjoy their stay here would always like to share their positive experiences on social media. This will generate further interest in Penang, especially in view of the country’s focus on Visit Malaysia 2020.
