Penang launches travel pass to boost tourism

VISITORS, both local and foreign, can now access to over 20 places of attraction in the state with just one single pass!

In the bid to enhance the Experience Penang Year 2020 (EPY2020) campaign, the Penang Global Tourism (PGT) and PlayPenang have come up with the Penang ExperincePass – a travel pass that gives visitors access to many attractions in Penang.

The travel pass is also part of the state Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage (PETACH) office’s initiative to embrace technology advancement to boost tourism in the state.

Penang Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said visitors have a choice to purchase either the one-day, two-day or three-day pass.

“Visitors can check out the Penang ExperiencePass webpage at https://experiencepenang.com.my/en-MY/ to know more about the travel pass.

“The webpage is platform powered by PlayPenang. It is developed by talents in the state, in collaboration with the Penang tourism industry players,” Yeoh said in his speech before launching the travel pass at Rainbow Paradise Beach Resort today.

PlayPenang chief executive officer Vin Lim said nowadays, visitors relied on social media and travel blogs whenever they intend to travel.

“Times have changed and that got us thinking if our tourism operators are ready for the shift.

“With that in mind, we decided to assist PETACH and PGT to set up of the online platform,” Lim said.

Also present was PGT chief executive officer Ooi Chok Yan.

The one-day pass is priced at RM149 for adult (RM119 for MyKad holders) and RM89 for children (RM69 for MyKad holders).

Whereas, the two-day ExperiencePass is priced at RM289 for adult (RM219 for MyKad holders) and RM175 for children (RM135 for MyKad holders).

For a ‘full-fledged’ experience, visitors can opt for the three-day pass at RM419 for adult (RM329 for MyKad holders) and RM259 for children (RM199 for MyKad holders).

The attractions include The Habitat Penang Hill, Entopia by Penang Butterfly Farm, Tropical Spice Garden, Tech Dome Penang, The TOP Penang, Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion – The Blue Mansion, the Penang Hop-On Hop-Off, and others.
