THE Penang government is open to the suggestion of banning the sale of e-cigarettes and vapes at business premises across the state.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, however, said that no formal discussions on the matter have taken place yet.

“We will wait for the state Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen to table this matter at the state executive council meeting.

“Only after that will we deliberate further and decide on the next course of action,” Chow told reporters briefly when asked about the issue today.

Chow was met earlier at the opening ceremony of the Toastmasters 2025 District 51 Annual Conference at Cititel Penang in George Town.

Previously, it was reported that Terengganu would become the first state in Malaysia to enforce a ban on the sale of e-cigarettes and vapes at business premises, beginning Aug 1.
