PENANG’S Financial Officer Datuk Zabidah Safar has conducted the necessary calculations for the upcoming salary increments for state civil servants, as announced by Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

Chow stated that this is in response to the recent announcement made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“While we have not yet received an official circular on the matter, Datuk Zabidah has already prepared the calculations based on the Prime Minister’s previous announcement.

“We are currently assessing the potential impact of these increases but have made provisions for the anticipated rise in expenditure.

“The state government is also reviewing the additional funds required to accommodate these adjustments.

“Once all preparations are complete, we will issue an official statement,” Chow said during a press conference today.

Anwar, during his address at the 19th Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam (MAPPA XIX), announced a salary adjustment of 15% for civil servants in the implementing, management, and professional groups, and 7% for those in the top management group.

The salary adjustments will be rolled out in phases, with Phase 1 starting on Dec 1, 2024, and Phase 2 on Jan 1, 2026.
