“Among our efforts are enhancing the public transportation network to reduce carbon emissions, promoting energy-efficient buildings, and implementing waste segregation at the source to improve waste management,” Chow stated.

Drawing inspiration from international models, Chow noted that South Korea serves as a valuable reference, particularly in building a resilient economy and advancing social welfare.

“We are equally committed to fostering a state where economic growth harmonises with environmental and social well-being, mirroring South Korea’s objectives,” said Chow, who also serves as chairman of the Penang Green Council (PGC).

Chow emphasised the importance of environmental sustainability, pointing to the Penang Green Agenda as the roadmap toward this goal. The agenda focuses on reducing carbon emissions, improving waste management, and promoting renewable energy.

“We are determined to advance the state’s green infrastructure by integrating advanced technologies, inspired by South Korea’s leadership in renewable energy,” he said.
