THE seven-member Penang sport stacking team returned home last night with an impressive haul of 19 medals (five gold, six silver, and eight bronze) after a successful outing at the World Sport Stacking Championships in Raden, Switzerland.
They were part of the 37-member Malaysian contingent that won a total of 62 medals (24 gold, 19 silver, and 19 bronze) at the tournament, which took place from April 25 to 27 and featured 411 athletes from 23 countries.
Guided by coaches Jessica Tan Soo Ling, founder of WSSA Penang, and Foo Soon Wah, the Penang team arrived at Penang International Airport at around 6.40pm to a warm welcome from family members, friends, and well-wishers.
The returning stackers included Khoh Yuan Qi, Soon Ying Ying, Maggie Kiu, Nicole Ong Jia Xuan, and Yeap Yu Chun.

“Our athletes have shown great determination and teamwork. Their achievements reflect the hard work they’ve put in,” said coach Jessica Tan.
Their success marks a proud moment for Malaysia, particularly Penang, as their young athletes have demonstrated both their calibre and potential.
