CONTINUED development in Penang will remain a key focus for Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow during his second and final term, guided by a commitment to unity and the DAP’s ‘pro-people’ agenda.

Chow highlighted the importance of strengthening party cohesion over the next three to four years.

“We will continue to advance with unity as the cornerstone for leading the political future.

“The DAP remains a ‘pro-people’ party,” he stated during the Penang DAP Deepavali Open House at SJKT Mak Mandin today.

He also acknowledged that global political shifts could have a significant impact on Penang’s economic climate.

“The recent victory of Donald Trump in the United States presidential election may influence global investment trends, including in Malaysia, which could affect Penang’s economy.

“United States policies will shape the landscape and climate of direct investments from the United States and its allied nations and have implications for China.

“The reactions of these major global powers will determine Penang’s investment environment,” Chow explained.

Meanwhile, Bukit Mertajam MP and Penang DAP chairman Steven Sim stressed the importance of unity and inclusivity, stressing that everyone, regardless of race, should be treated equally.

He highlighted the strength of Malaysia’s multicultural society and how diversity serves as a unifying force for the nation.

“We must embrace our diversity and work together towards collective progress and national unity, recognising that our strength lies in our differences,” said Sim, who is also the Human Resources Minister.

The event was attended by Deputy Finance Minister and Tanjong MP Lim Hui Ying, Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh, as well as several state executive councillors and other dignitaries.
