OVER 800 cycling enthusiasts from across the globe are set to throng Penang during the ‘My Brompton Malaysia Fans Day 2025’ on Feb 23 at New World Park.

Jointly organised by PG Cycle Spot and My Brompton Malaysia, the event returns to Penang for the second time after its debut in 2016.

Since its inception in 2015, the event has travelled across Malaysia, including Ipoh, Melaka, Johor, Sarawak, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur.

PG Cycle Spot is the only authorised seller of Brompton bicycles in Penang and My Brompton Malaysia is a dedicated fan club for Brompton bicycle owners.

At a media conference held in Komtar today, state Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen expressed his excitement for the event to promote cycling culture, tourism and community spirit.

“This event is more than just a ride, it is a celebration of cycling, community, and the unique joy of folding bikes.

“We are honoured to welcome over 800 cyclists from Malaysia and abroad, including participants from Korea, China, Thailand, Indonesia, the UK and Singapore,” Gooi said in his speech.

On event day, participants will cycle 25km through George Town’s heritage landmarks, where they get to experience the city’s unique charm and vibrant culture.

The cycling route will begin at New World Park and continue along Burmah Road before heading towards Kelawai Road and passing through Straits Quay.

From there, cyclists will ride along Gurney Drive, making their way into George Town, where they will pass by City Hall and the Esplanade.

The journey will then take them through smaller heritage areas, including Armenian Street, before continuing onto Carnarvon Street and Kimberley Street.

Finally, riders will make their way back along Burmah Road, completing the loop at New World Park.

Meanwhile, PG Cycle Spot owner and event co-organiser Andy Tham said the upcoming cycle event, unlike any other competitive event, is designed for the community to enjoy the city’s breathtaking scenery and experience the vibrant heritage of Penang.

“This is not a race but a fun ride for all to enjoy.

“My Brompton Malaysia Fans Day 2025 encourages cross-cultural exchange, as foreign participants can explore Penang, while local riders can be inspired to travel and connect with cyclists from other countries,” he said.

Tan, an avid cyclist, will also be taking part in the event.
