IN conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration next week, a group of young enthusiastic young talents has recently released a song aimed at promoting the vibrant culture of Penang.
State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai announced that the group, led by social media influencer Ashley Tang, intends to showcase Penang’s rich cultural heritage.
“I hope this song will further promote Penang as one of the tourist destinations, coupled with its famous delicacies such as cendol, laksa, and char koay teow.
“This initiative will contribute to promoting Penang’s creative economy, and offer a platform for young talents to exhibit their skills.
“The song helps to integrate the scenic beauty of Penang, presenting it to a wider community,” he said at a press conference.
Lead singer Tang expressed her delight at collaborating with the state government.
“I have 47 students, with the youngest one being four years old. I hope they gain valuable experience in understanding how a production works. The video is a non-profit endeavour,” she said.
Meanwhile, Wong revealed that Flydubai Airlines would launch its first direct flight from Dubai to Penang, coinciding with the first day of the Chinese New Year.
However, he said the opening ceremony event for the flight would be rescheduled to another day.
Apart from that, Wong anticipated several events in Penang to usher in the Year of the Dragon.
“Various exciting events, including lantern lighting ceremony, will be held at various places to enhance the festive atmosphere.
“All these activities will surely promote Penang as a premier destination for tourists to explore,” he added.
