Penang’s EngTek Group celebrates 50 years of manufacturing excellence

PENANG-BASED manufacturer EngTek Group celebrated its 50th anniversary today with a grand event at G Hotel Gurney in George Town.

 

The celebration was attended by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who congratulated the company on reaching this significant milestone.

 

In his speech, Chow commended EngTek Group for its 50 years in the manufacturing industry, highlighting that this milestone represents not only five decades of excellence in precision engineering but also the innovation, resilience, and commitment that have driven EngTek’s success and contributed to Penang’s dynamic growth.

“As we celebrate EngTek’s remarkable 50-year journey, we are not only honouring the company’s past achievements but also looking forward to its future.

“It serves as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when we focus on our goals and work relentlessly to realise them,” Chow said.

 

He was confident that EngTek would continue to set new standards in precision engineering, contributing to the growth of the industry and inspiring other companies.

 

“Your journey is not just a business success story – it is an inspiration for all of us.

 

“On behalf of the Penang government, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to EngTek Group on this incredible milestone.

EngTek is a leading manufacturer specialising in die-casting and precision machining components. Founded by Datuk Teh Ah Ba in 1974, the company has become a cornerstone of the local business community, serving global multinational corporations for over five decades.

 

The company’s custom precision engineering components support a wide range of high-growth industries in the region, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, semiconductors, automotive, and telecommunications.

 

EngTek Group chief executive officer and chairman Datuk Teh Yong Khoon emphasised that this occasion was not just a celebration of past achievements but a testament to the hard work, dedication, and vision that have propelled the Group to this momentous point.

“Each of these experiences has shaped us into the successful, forward-thinking company we are today,” said Yong Khoon.

 

He also noted that, in line with the digital age of manufacturing, the company has implemented automated machinery centres, robotics handlers, vision systems, smart software, and other advanced technologies.

 

These innovations are shaping EngTek’s smart factory of the future, making it more flexible, scalable, and competitive in enhancing value creation for its customers locally and internationally.

 

Yong Khoon concluded his speech by acknowledging the collective efforts behind the company’s success: “Our accomplishments over these five decades are a direct reflection of the steadfast commitment of our employees, the trust of our clients, and the enduring support of our business partners.”

The anniversary celebration was also attended by Penang Social Development, Welfare, and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairman Lim Siew Khim, InvestPenang chief executive officer Datuk Loo Lee Lian, EngTek Group general manager Teh Wuan Yee, and EngTek Group directors Soo Jin Goh and Randy Teo.
