Penang’s mouth-watering food the main attraction to visitors

PENANG has always been a preferred destination for holiday-goers during school holidays and festivities. It is also an all-time holiday spot for families.

 

Now with the ongoing school holidays, we can see local and international tourists, flocking to some of the popular restaurants or tourist attractions in the state.

 

So, what makes Penang a favourite holiday destination?

 

To find out more on this, the Buletin Mutiara team conducted a quick survey at one of George Town’s happening streets – Armenian Street – today.

 

Muhammad Firdaus Mohd Othman, 29, who is here with his family said, food was the number one reason to visit Penang.

“I am from Sepang, Selangor and we are here as a family to enjoy Penang’s food. We love the food here as its taste is always authentic.

 

“This is not our first time in Penang as we have been here before,” said Muhammad Firdaus, who is a school teacher.

 

Muhammad Firdaus and his wife also said that Penang, which has heritage buildings, is a perfect spot for Instagram clicks.

 

University student Amirah Sofiya, who is from Melaka, said she is eager to visit Penang Hill and enjoy its serenity with her family.

 

“We are here in Penang for the first time, and we are looking forward to tasting Penang’s best food, especially nasi kandar.

“Today is our first day. We are excited to explore Penang,” said Amirah, who is currently pursuing her Diploma in Science at UiTM, Tapah.

 

International tourists Oliver Couv, who is from Belgium, and Dah Ekeibed from Mauritania, Africa, said they have heard that Penang is a great place to visit in Malaysia.

 

“I can see that Penang has a good vibe and soul. I was told that Penang is one of the famous places in Malaysia.

“The nature, its beaches, food, people, and the places of attraction are nice. I enjoy looking around and visiting Penang,” Couv said.

 

Meanwhile, Ekeibed, who is studying in Kuala Lumpur, said he got to know that Penang is a food haven, so he decided to visit the state.

 

“I want to enjoy the food and I love the atmosphere in Penang,” Ekeibed said.

 

Johorian Chong Sook Ping said she came to Penang after hearing good reviews about Penang.

“So, during this holiday, my family members, relatives, friends, and I travelled with a tour group to Penang to explore the state.

 

“We just reached Penang this morning,” said Chong, 52.
