THE Penang Women Entrepreneur Mentoring Programme (PENMentor) 5.0 is back, continuing its mission to transform the lives of women since its inception in 2020.
Organised by the Penang Women Development Corporation (PWDC), the programme is now open for registration for female entrepreneurs.
Since its launch, more than 300 women have benefitted from the programme.
State Social Development, Welfare and Non-Religious Committee chairman Lim Siew Khim announced the fifth edition of the programme, aimed at providing female entrepreneurs with a platform to strengthen their networks.
“We have introduced a new abbreviation for the programme as PENMentor, along with a new logo. The colours of the logo are synonymous with Penang’s state flag, symbolising the participants’ confidence and potential to excel further,” she said during the programme’s launch on Friday.
Lim praised the programme’s success, noting an average increase of 52% in sales among participants. She highlighted its positive impact on women entrepreneurs.
“We are also targeting 40% of SMEs in Penang to be owned by women entrepreneurs by 2030, which will require about 100,000 women entrepreneurs,” she said.
PWDC chief executive officer Datuk Ong Bee Leng shared that the mentoring programme would be conducted in both English and Malay.
“The programme will run for three months, from November this year to February next year,” she said, adding that Digital Penang would also be participating.
The registration deadline is Nov 8 and is open to all women aged 18 and above.
