Pensonic founder bags INPenang Lifetime Achievement Award

IT was a night to remember for Datuk Seri Chew Weng Khak when he was bestowed the prestigious INPenang Lifetime Achievement Award at its fifth edition at St Giles The Wembley Hotel in George Town tonight.

 

The founder and group executive chairman of Pensonic Holdings Berhad was chosen for his long-standing leadership and prominent contributions to the Penang and Malaysian society.

 

Chew was among a total of 17 outstanding Penang people and organisations awarded for their success in their respective fields and contributions to the society.

 

The INPenang awards celebration was organised by CHTNetwork, whose founder and chairman is Ch’ng Huck Theng. The awards celebration was also endorsed by the Penang government.

About 300 notable dignitaries, including Penang Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak and state Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin, attended the gala dinner.

Yeoh congratulated all winners and commended Ch’ng for managing to organise the international awards despite many obstacles due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

 

“I would like to begin by expressing my heartiest congratulations to the award winners for marking another milestone in their respective fields and endeavours.

 

“Penang is indeed filled with exceptional talents which serve as important catalyst in helping us progress towards a more progressive, inclusive and advanced state.

 

“As we are all aware of, we live in extraordinary times with a pandemic and restriction measures in place. However it is important for us to pivot our focus and emphasise on the flip side of the coin to see situations with a silver lining.

 

“With that being said, the state government seeks to inject economical effect and incorporate wider fields into the initial elements of arts, culture and heritage.

 

“As such, we look forward to the establishment of a more active and holistic creative ecosystem that promotes cross-sector and cross-discipline collaboration, achieving mutual growth and improvement,” Yeoh said in his opening remarks.

 

For this year, two special and meaningful award categories were introduced.

 

They were ‘Best Frontliner – Medical’ and ‘Best Frontliner – Law Enforcement’.

 

The two new awards were presented to the Penang police force and state Health Department for their exceptional services during the crisis of Covid-19 pandemic.

6. Best Frontliner (Medical) – Penang Health Department

7. Top Fashion Designer – Ranndy Goh

8. Best Frontliner (Law Enforcement) – Penang police force
