THE highly anticipated Perpaduan Charity Hike 2025 is set to take place at the Penang Municipal Park (formerly Youth Park) on June 29, with an expected turnout of 2,500 participants.

Organised by Penang International Hiker’s (PIH) and Penang State Sports Council (MSNPP), in collaboration with Kadaram Adventure Club Malaysia and Meronot Adventure Club Penang, the event aims to promote a healthy lifestyle while fostering community spirit and unity among participants of all ages.

State Youth, Sports, and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen emphasised the event’s significance, noting that its popularity has grown steadily since its inception in 2023.

“The Perpaduan Charity Hike has seen tremendous growth, from 1,000 participants in 2023 to 1,700 in 2024, and this year, with strong support from MSNPP, we are confident of reaching our 2,500-participant target,” he said during a press conference today in Komtar.

This year’s hike is set to welcome the involvement of 1,000 secondary school students from 25 schools across Penang.

Following the recently approved application to the Penang State Education Department (JPNPP), student participants will be eligible to receive state-level Pentaksiran Aktiviti Jasmani, Sukan & Kokurikulum (PAJSK) marks, aside from a student registration promotion, contributing to their extracurricular achievements.

Aside from promoting fitness, the event also supports charitable causes, with eight charity homes such as Penang Deaf Association, Ru Yi Children’s Home and Silver Jubilee Home for the Aged setting up booths to raise funds for their respective initiatives.

“Hiking is more than just an outdoor activity, it is a way to unite people for a meaningful cause. Through this event, we hope to strengthen community ties while supporting those in need,” said Sim Thean Sang (Jungle Sim), the organising chairman.

Participants can choose between 5km and 10km scenic routes, each offering a chance to experience Penang’s lush greenery.

To add to the excitement, those taking part will stand a chance to win lucky draw prizes worth RM20,000, making this year’s hike even more rewarding.
