THE annual Pesta Pulau Pinang in Sungai Nibong is the best platform for local entrepreneurs to showcase and market their products locally and abroad, says Deputy Chief Minister I Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid.
According to Dr Mohamad, the Pesta Pulau Pinang is not only popular among the locals but also attracts a significant number of foreign tourists.
“This is the best platform for local entrepreneurs to intensify their promotions for their products to reach a broader audience within the country and beyond.
“From our observations this year and previous years, the active participation of local entrepreneurs in this month-long Pesta has garnered very encouraging responses.
“This shows that our local products can be promoted not only in the local market but also be expanded to the international market.
“I hope with only a few days remaining before the Pesta Pulau Pinang officially ends this year, the people in Penang and other states will take this opportunity to come here and support our local products,” Dr Mohamad told reporters when he visited the Penangpreneur Pavilion at the Pesta site on Dec 28.
Also present was Penang Trade, Entrepreneurial Development and Rural Development Committee chairman Rashidi Zinol.
Speaking about the Penangpreneur Pavilion, Rashidi said 11 sites have been set aside for local entrepreneurs in the state for free to facilitate the introduction and promotion of their products.
“This is a pilot project by my office, with the involvement of nearly 30 entrepreneurs in the state. Based on feedback, they seem to be satisfied with the response to their products.
“After the Pesta, we will conduct a post-mortem to identify areas for improvements, determine products with high showcase potential, explore avenues to further develop the entrepreneurs, and devise strategies to help them expand their market reach,” he said.
