PGC to host Penang International Green Conference and Exhibition 2024

IN an effort to create a greener and more sustainable future, the Penang Green Council (PGC) will organise the Penang International Green Conference and Exhibition 2024 (PGIGCE 2024).

 

The event will take place on Nov 16 and 17 at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre.

 

PGIGCE 2024 organising chairman Baylon Tham Wai Leong, who is also a member of  PGC’s Board of Directors, described the event as a beacon of innovation in green technology, green finance, and net zero carbon solutions.

“It offers an exciting space for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and actionable insights, propelling us toward a greener, more sustainable, and prosperous Penang,” Tham told a media conference in Komtar today.

 

“Through this premier event, we aim to unite visionary leaders, innovative thinkers, and passionate advocates from across Penang and the northern states in our mission to create a sustainable future,” he added.

 

Also in attendance were Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, state Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk A. Rajendran, and PGC general manager Josephine Tan Mei Ling.

 

Tham stressed that PGIGCE 2024 is designed to advance sustainability and spark positive global change.

 

“PGIGCE aims to inspire action towards sustainability and environmental stewardship, serving as a platform to promote green solutions and sustainable technologies with a significant environmental impact.

 

“The event will feature engaging talks and panel discussions with local and international speakers, providing participants with updates on current trends and opportunities.

 

“We are now calling for exhibitors and sponsors to join us in this transformative event, which serves as a catalyst for change, a hub for collaboration, and a launchpad for sustainable solutions that will shape our future,” Tham said.

 

Meanwhile, Chow praised PGC for organising the important event.

He emphasised that addressing environmental challenges has never been more urgent.

 

“Since 2011, PGC has been at the forefront of holding various sustainability events as a state government agency.
