THE Penang Goldsmith and Jewellers Association (PGJA) has played a pivotal role in establishing Penang as a hub of excellence in the jewellery industry, according to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
He said over the past 25 years, the association has advanced the art of jewellery making and fostered business growth.
Chow attended the 25th Gala Anniversary Dinner of PGJA at Setia SPICE Convention Centre in Bayan Lepas tonight after visiting the Penang Signature Gold and Jewellery Fair earlier in the day.
“The unwavering commitment of this association to quality, ethics, and creativity has not only set benchmarks but also illuminated a path for the entire industry to follow.
“The Penang Signature Gold and Jewellery Fair has evolved into an internationally acclaimed platform, showcasing the finest creations, the latest trends, and the limitless creativity that our artisans possess.
“This fair goes beyond the celebration of jewellery’s beauty and it serves as a convergence point for impassioned minds committed to pushing boundaries and propelling innovation,” Chow said in his speech at the dinner.
He recognised that this milestone underscores the journey of PGJA and highlights the industry’s spirit of craftsmanship, innovation and collaboration.
Chow also extended his heartfelt gratitude to PGJA for its achievement
PGJA president Lo Siew Cheong said he was grateful to have witnessed the remarkable growth of the association.
“It has been a long journey in the jewellery industry and we hope to achieve more feats in the future,” he said.
The event included a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate PGJA’s 25th anniversary.
Among those present were Deputy Finance Minister II Steven Sim, Elite Expo Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Johnson Lim, and PGJA honorary secretary Foong Hon Beng, who is also the event’s organising chairman.
