THE Pakatan Harapan administration in Penang is confident of defending its strong mandate in the upcoming general election to continue administering the state.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who is also the state Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman, said the political coalition has a proven track record during the 15 years of administration in Penang.
“This is proven with various policies and programmes implemented by us which benefit the people and the state as a whole.
“The PH administration in Penang has shown a great example in leading the state with almost zero corruption and full integrity compared with other states with different political administrations.
“Recently, we also announced that the Penang government has fulfilled 90% of its 2018 manifesto promises.
“Therefore, I am confident that the people of Penang will once again continue to vote for the PH coalition in the upcoming general election.
“Although we have seen some political hiccups over the past two years caused by certain politicians who initiated the ‘Sheraton Move’ that has disrupted the stability and development of our beloved country, we are confident that we will continue to receive the support from Penangites.
“After all, they have seen how we work and our commitment to bringing the state to greater heights,” Chow said in his fiery speech during the engagement session with the Indian community at Dewan Serbaguna Jawi in Nibong Tebal today.
The engagement session was organised by the Malaysian Indian Voice (MIV)(Penang branch).
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy, Jawi assemblyman Jason H’ng Mooi Lye, Sungai Bakap assemblyman Datuk Dr Amar Pritpal Abdullah, Bagan Dalam assemblyman M. Satees, Selangor executive council member V. Ganabatirau and
MIV Penang branch chairman A. Sathiyemurthy.
According to Chow, the PH coalition in Penang has been making the necessary preparations since last year to face the upcoming general election.
“We are preparing as much as possible.
“This includes campaign strategy, placement of candidates, manifesto and many other things. We are accelerating this process forward.
“We were given a strong mandate to administer the state for five years during the 14th General Election (GE14) in 2018 and we intend to maintain that strong mandate again.
“And based on our performance over the last three terms, we are confident of getting the mandate from the people of Penang again,” Chow added.
