PENANG Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) chairman RSN Rayer and vice-chairman Senator Dr A. Lingeswaran visited three accident victims – a seven-year-old boy, his five-year-old sister, and their grandmother, in her 50s – at Penang Hospital this evening.
It was reported that the family was involved in an accident on Feb 18 when the motorcycle they were on collided with a lorry at the entrance to Jalan Besar, Sungai Bakap. The grandmother was taking her grandchildren to school at the time.
As a result of the accident, the seven-year-old boy sustained severe injuries to his left arm, while his five-year-old sister had to undergo a below-the-knee amputation on her right leg. Their grandmother suffered a head injury and a broken ankle.
During the visit, Rayer and Dr Lingeshwaran expressed their heartfelt support, offering comfort and financial support to help the family through this difficult period.
They also brought a Spider-Man mask for the brother and a Frozen doll for his sister, hoping to bring a smile to them.
“In the long term, the children will require proper rehabilitation, as these are complicated injuries,” Dr Lingeshwaran said.

The victims were initially taken to Sungai Bakap Hospital before being transferred to Penang Hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, the children’s aunt thanked the staff at the government hospital for their assistance and excellent care.
