PIFF 2019 to wrap up with the Penang Seafood Galore

PENANG International Food Festival 2019 (PIFF 2019) will be concluding with the Penang Seafood Galore this weekend (April 27 and 28) starting from 5pm to 11pm at the Design Village Outlet Mall, Batu Kawan.

For food lovers out there who have not been part of PIFF 2019’s food episodes, this is the final chance to get a ‘taste’ of it.

“Ninety food vendors from the island as well as mainland will be brought under one roof at the Penang Seafood Galore.

“Fourteen ‘Ikan Bakar’ stalls, 56 stalls by hawkers, cafes and restaurants and 20 food trucks offering delicious sea food items will be there at the festival.

“Meanwhile, popular live seafood restaurant, ‘Hamisu Enterprise will be making its debut at the Penang Seafood Galore. They will be introducing a unique dining concept where visitors can catch their own prawns in a portable pond and grill their catch at the Prawns Corner,” state Tourism Development, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said at a press conference today.

Apart from that, professional chefs will be battling against each other in the ‘PIFF Professional Chef Cooking Competition’ at the festival.

“Other than a vast array of marine bounty, visitors to the Penang Seafood Galore can expect fireworks display and outdoor theatre and live performances,” added Yeoh.

Among the participating restaurants and cafes at the festival are Sunrise Seafood BBQ, 118 Cafe Portuguese Grill Fish, East Coast Grill Seafood, Ah Chui Seafood, Lan’s Corner Ikan Bakar and Mami Penang Nasi Kandar Dalca.

For those foodies in the island, free bus service will be provided from Queensbay Mall (bus stop) to the PIFF 2019 venue (Design Village Outlet Mall, Batu Kawan).

The first bus from the island (Queensbay Mall) is at 4pm and the last bus from Design Village Outlet Mall is at 11pm (every 45 minutes).

Visitors to the festival can also opt to take a Grab ride as they can use the promo code ‘Grab2PIFF2019’ from any destination in Penang but are required to key in ‘Penang Seafood Galore’ as their drop off destination. A discount of RM 5 will be given.
