RESIDENTS at Pinang Emas Flat in Batu Ferringhi will soon have four new lifts installed at each of the four blocks there, courtesy of the Penang Maximum 80% Maintenance Fund (TPM80PP) that has been approved by the state government.

Sharing the good news at the premises today were caretaker state Transport and Infrastructure Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari and Bukit Bendera MP Syerleena Abdul Rashid.

According to Syerleena, a total of RM412,000 will be spent to materialise the four units of lifts there.

“Under the TPM80PP, the state government will be contributing RM329,600.

“As for the 20 per cent, it is always paid by the residents but in this case, I would like to inform you that I will be contributing the remaining RM82,400 using my MP’s allocation,” Syerleena said during a press conference at the flat today.

It is learnt that only one lift is currently functioning at each block there.

Works will begin on July 17 and are expected to be completed in 28 weeks.

Meanwhile, Zairil has urged the residents there to be responsible and extremely careful while using the common facilities.

He said this following several vandalism cases that have happened in the area.

The flat was built in 2005.
