Pinang Tunggal – A potential eco-tourism destination

PINANG Tunggal in Kepala Batas has the potential to become a popular eco-tourism destination in the future.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow believed that the scenic views of the rural areas and the agro-tourism sites could make Pinang Tunggal a well-known tourism product.

“State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Yeoh Soon Hin has taken various initiatives to boost tourism in the state.

“The Penang Tourism Master Plan is one such initiative that shows the state’s commitment to developing the tourism sector,” he said in his speech during the cultural carnival at Pinang Tunggal in Kepala Batas.

Chow added that Pinang Tunggal’s eco-tourism potential could be developed to be on par with other eco-tourism sites such as those found in Sekinchan, Selangor.

He also mentioned Balik Pulau as another famous tourist site in Penang.

During the cultural carnival at Pinang Tunggal, Chow and other distinguished guests were warmly greeted by the locals.

Yeoh, who was also present at the carnival, expressed his pride in the tourism development at Pinang Tunggal.

“My office has been involved in various initiatives to promote the place,” Yeoh said.

Other notable attendees included Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Ahmad Zakiyuddin Abdul Rahman and Chow’s special coordinating officer Lay Hock Peng.
