MORE than 30,000 hands-on workshop slots, 53 diverse workshops, cutting-edge industry exhibits, and exciting competitions mark the return of the Penang International Science Fair (PISF) 2024!
Held today and tomorrow (Nov 30 and Dec 1) at Setia SPICE Arena, the two-day event has attracted participation from 147 schools in Penang and 53 schools across Kedah, Kelantan, Melaka, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, and Selangor.
The opening ceremony today was graced by the presence of Penang Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak.
Penang Youth, Sports and Health Committee chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, in his speech, commended Penang Science Cluster (PSC) for its dedication to organising the event, themed ‘Inspiring Innovation Everywhere (in the age of AI).’
“This theme underscores the transformative potential of artificial intelligence and the importance of accessibility.
“For many students, PISF is where curiosity transforms into inspiration, sparking a lifelong passion for science and technology.
“Thus, I urge students, educators, and parents to seize the incredible opportunities that PISF 2024 offers.
“This is your moment to dive into the world of discovery, to learn, innovate, and dream big,” he concluded.
Also present during the opening ceremony were former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, who is also the Bagan MP and Air Putih assemblyman, Bagan Jermal assemblyman Chee Yeeh Keen, Penang Island City Council (MBPP) mayor Datuk A. Rajendran, Chief Minister Incorporated (CMI) general manager Datin S. Bharathi and PSC chief executive officer Datuk Ooi Peng Ee.
