THE Penang International Science Fair (PISF) 2024 is set to return on Nov 30 and Dec 1, with an expected attendance of 40,000 to 60,000 visitors this year!

The event, scheduled to take place at the Setia SPICE Arena, will feature over 30,000 hands-on workshop slots across 53 types of workshops, cutting-edge industry exhibits, and dynamic competitions.

It has been confirmed that 147 schools from Penang and 53 schools from Kedah, Kelantan, Melaka, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, and Selangor have registered for this year’s PISF.

A total of 2,062 projects have been submitted for the 11 competitions lined up for the event.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow described PISF 2024, supported by 71 industry partners, organisations, and institutions, as a testament to what students can achieve when education, industry, and the community come together.

“This year’s theme, ‘Inspiring Innovation Everywhere (in the age of AI)’, highlights the transformative potential of artificial intelligence and underscores the need to make these technologies accessible to all,” Chow said.

He added that programmes such as ‘Generative AI for Girls’ and the ‘Advanced MakerLab Tracks’ are more than just educational initiatives – they are platforms that nurture creativity, critical thinking, and a forward-thinking mindset.

“For many students, PISF is the place where curiosity evolves into inspiration, sparking a lifelong passion for science and technology.

“I urge students, educators, and parents to seize the incredible opportunities that PISF 2024 offers.

“This is your moment to dive into the world of discovery, to learn, innovate, and dream big.

“But the responsibility does not lie solely with students. Schools, industry leaders, and the wider community must unite to create an environment where curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking can thrive.

“When we come together to nurture the potential of our youth, we are not just preparing them for the future – we are empowering them to shape it,” he said during his speech at the PISF 2024 media conference held at the Penang Science Cluster in Wisma Yeap Chor Ee, George Town, today.

Also present at the media conference were Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo, state Youth, Sports, and Health Committee Chairman Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, and Penang Science Cluster (PSC) chief executive officer Datuk Ooi Peng Ee.
