THE second round of the Community Vaccine Mobilisation (Movak) programme at the City Stadium is back in full swing today.
The programme saw a total of 347 individuals getting their second dose of vaccine as of 2pm.
According to the operating officer, Mazlan Mohdzin, the Movak programme at the City Stadium would involve a total of 2,202 individuals who had earlier received their first jab a few weeks ago (Aug 31- Sept 2).
“We are expecting to inoculate a total of 474 individuals today and another 630 recipients tomorrow.
“On Sept 22, it will involve 558 individuals and on Sept 23, which is the last day, it will involve 540 recipients,’’ said Mazlan.
Mazlan said that the operation hour for the Movak programme at the City Stadium is from 8.30am till 5pm while the programme is facilitated by some 50 volunteers from various departments and agencies.
“I would like extend my appreciation to the Penang Secretariat Office, Penang Island City Council (MBPP), police, Public Works Department, Fire and Rescue Department, state Health Department and Department for Youth and Sports for helping us to run the programme smoothly,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, Penang State Secretariat office head of local government division Nur Aishah Md Norodin said as of noon today, 50% from a total of 650 participants turned up for second round of the Movak programme at Dewan Dato’ Haji Ahmad Badawi in Butterworth today.
“We are expecting a full attendance from the participants throughout this programme, but some might not be able to turn up as they might be under quarantine.
“Hence, these individuals can opt to walk in to any of the vaccination centres to complete their vaccination once they have completed their quarantine period.
“Earlier, for the first round of Movak programme, it involved a total of 11,010 participants in all the five districts of the state,’’ she added.
Apart from the City Stadium and Dewan Dato Haji Ahmad Badawi in Butterworth, other venues that simultaneously operating for the Movak programme are Gelanggang Bola Keranjang Taman Kota Permai, Batu Kawan Stadium, and Dewan Perda Teluk Kumbar.
While, Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik when contacted said the Movak programme held at the Batu Kawan Stadium garnered a good response with a total attendance of 504 out of 522 on the first day.
“Overall, the Movak programme has benefited the residents in the neighbourhood of Batu Kawan and Bandar Cassia.
“I hope that the Movak programme will help to accelerate the process to achieve herd immunity,’’ Goh added.
