COMPANIES from the private sector continue to provide help to the community during this challenging pandemic period.
Techcomax Sdn Bhd, a company which has been in the food industry for about 25 years, has contributed a total of 7,100 bottles of handwash and hand sanitisers.
Its managing director Ooi Eng Teik said the effort was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to help the community and the government.
“We have to play our part in this war against Covid-19,” he said before handing over the products to the Penang government at Komtar today.
The company donated 5,600 bottles of handwash (500ml); 1,000 bottles of hand sanitiser (500ml / liquid); and 500 bottles of hand sanitiser (500ml / gel).
Meanwhile, face mask manufacturer Firstmed (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd donated 200 boxes of face masks.
The company was represented by its managing director Tan Chuan Eng and marketing manager Jimmy Lim.
Lim said the company had taken part in various CSR programmes, including providing aid to old folk’s homes and children’s homes.
Chow thanked the companies for their assistance.
“The state will distribute the aid to the various service centres, or whenever any organisation or non-governmental organisation applies to the state government for assistance.
“We will hand over it to them for community use.
“The efforts are something we have seen since March last year where the private sector responded to the needs of the community,” he said.
Chow said it is a long battle against Covid-19.
“It is not over. It takes the whole-of-government and the whole-of-society approach to win this war against the pandemic.
“We urge the Penangites who have not registered for the Covid-19 vaccination, to please register for the programme through the MySejahtera.
“We hope to complete the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) in Penang by the end of October this year,” he said.
