THE Pusat Perkhidmatan Setempat Nelayan (PPSN) team has engaged over 45,000 fishermen and residents to get their perspectives on the Penang South Islands (PSI) project.
Penang Infrastructure Corporation chief executive officer Datuk Seri Farizan Darus said the proactive approach was in line with the Penang2030 vision which prioritises the interest of the people in state development projects.
The team has also organised a free health screening programme for the local fishermen and residents in the area recently.
The programme was organised in collaboration with Paraclete Wellness Sdn Bhd.
Fisherman Saaroni Hassan, 72, from Permatang Damar Laut, commended the initiative.
“The programme is good for the community. I go for regular health check-ups as they can detect health conditions or diseases early,” he said.
Sarina Jaafar, 56, a Sungai Batu resident, said she missed her health check-up for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I believe this is a good programme to create awareness and a wake-up call for people to be more health-conscious,” she said.
Those present were given free health screenings at the event, which include glucose tests, body composition and blood pressure.
