NESTLED within the heart of a designated traditional village zone, Kampung Bagan Buaya in Nibong Tebal remains a symbol of enduring heritage and community spirit.

Determined to preserve its cultural and historical roots, state Local Government, Town and Country Planning Committee chairman H’ng Mooi Lye has pledged to safeguard the village’s identity amid surrounding development.

“We must protect the traditional values that define this village.

“As development accelerates around us, my responsibility is to ensure that places like Kampung Bagan Buaya remain untouched by overdevelopment.

“Our identity lies in these villages, and they deserve our protection,” H’ng said during the Jawi state constituency Hari Raya Open House on the mainland today.

He reaffirmed that any development in the area would be closely regulated and minimised, in line with the state’s policy for traditional village zones.

The festive open house celebration drew residents from nearby communities who enjoyed a variety of local delicacies and multicultural performances, featuring songs in Malay, Chinese, and Tamil.

H’ng also highlighted the significance of the venue, a recently renovated Sepak Takraw court.

Upgrades included the installation of new roofing and a fresh coat of paint, with a total expenditure of RM161,550.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, who graced the event alongside his wife Madam Tan Lean Kee, commended H’ng for his dedication to the constituency.
