THE Medi-Genesis Clinic in Simpang Ampat near Nibong Tebal has been officially conducting the Covid-19 vaccination process since June 8.
The clinic is one of the nine private clinics that have been operating as vaccination centres (PPVs) in Penang to assist in the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP). The nine clinics are among 51 private clinics in the state that are participating in the NIP.
Medi-Genesis Clinic chief Dr Mohana Krishna said the clinic would administer 18 dosages of Covid-19 vaccine (Sinovac) per day.
“We will be administering 18 dosages of vaccine every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, starting from 1pm to 5pm.
“So every week, we will administer a total of 54 doses to the people.
“After three weeks, we will increase it to 90 doses per week as instructed by the Health Ministry (MoH).
“We also use a special fridge to store the vaccine in order to prevent it from any damage and to preserve the vaccine quality with the proper temperature,” Dr Mohana told the reporters at the clinic today.
Also present was Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik.
According to Dr Mohana, the clinic has three staff members in charge of the vaccination programme.
“If the shortlisted recipients do not turn up for the appointment date, we will call them first before deciding to give it to others on the waiting list based on the MySejahtera App.
“We will also call them earlier before the vaccination day to remind them.
“If they cannot arrive on time, they only need to inform us to reschedule their appointment.
“For certain cases, we will allow the shortlisted recipients to come after office hours to get the jabs since our clinic operates for 24 hours.
“However, we urge them to follow the time and date as stated on the MySejahtera App,” he added.
Goh said there are three PPVs clinics in south Seberang Perai that have started administering the vaccines.
“They are Medi-Genesis Clinic in Simpang Ampat, Klinik Mika (Jawi) and Poliklinik Pekaka (Nibong Tebal).
“I hope more people will register for the vaccines and get inoculated for the herd immunity to be achieved as soon as possible,” he said.
