IN preparation for the impending water cut next week, the Pulau Tikus assemblyman and the Bukit Bendera MP offices have taken proactive measures to ensure there is sufficient water for the residents and elderly care centres.
The water supply disruption is scheduled to happen from Jan 10 to 14.
Pulau Tikus assemblyman Joshua Woo said they allocated 70 cartons of drinking water to be distributed to 14 elderly care centres which were caring for about 300 senior citizens in total.
“In addition, we are deploying two large water tanks (500 gallons or equivalent to 1,892 litres each) to Pulau Tikus wet market and Anjung Gurney.
“We are also placing 18 medium water tanks (300 gallons or 1,135.62 litres each) across 11 locations for the public to obtain water.
“Thirdly, we are also distributing 100 small containers (10 litres each) to our team for water transfer to these 11 locations, complementing the Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP), Penang Island City Council (MBPP), and voluntary fire brigade (PBS) tanker efforts,” he said when contacted.
Woo said his service centre would extend its operating hours from 10am to 10pm during the Jan 10 to 17 period, standing by to assist our constituents.
“Additionally, we have allocated an extra three days (Jan 15 to 17) in case water supply recovery extends beyond Jan 14,” he explained.
