THE Penang Green Council (PGC) organised a two-day programme called the Penang Green Market to celebrate sustainability, community, and the beauty of our planet last weekend (May 4 to 5).
Jointly organised by PGC and L’Occitane Malaysia, a total of 17 booths were set up at Gurney Plaza, where individuals from all walks of life thronged the mall to experience the green-driven initiative.
Throughout the two-day event, a series of workshops, games and interactive activities were conducted to educate and inspire our community to live more sustainably.
PGC general manager Josephine Tan said the Penang Green Market was more than just a marketplace.
“It is a vibrant hub where eco-conscious individuals, local artisans, entrepreneurs, and advocates come together to promote green living and environmental stewardship.
“As you walk through the aisles of the market, you will discover a treasure trove of eco-friendly products, ranging from organic produce and handmade crafts to renewable energy solutions and upcycled goods.
“Each item has been carefully curated to reflect our commitment to sustainability and our dedication to protecting the environment for future generations,” she said in her speech during the event at Gurney Plaza on May 4.
Meanwhile, state Housing and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Seri Sundarajoo Somu said the programme by PGC was not just about shopping; it is also a place for learning, sharing, and connecting with like-minded individuals who share a passion for environmental conservation.
“I am taking this opportunity to thank these two passionate teams for taking the lead and making this market happen today.
“It is also important that we have gained the support from our sponsors, partners, vendors, media friends and guests. It is through these partnerships that all of this is made possible.
“Together, let us embrace the spirit of sustainability, celebrate the beauty of our planet, and take meaningful steps towards a greener, more sustainable future,” he said.
