THE ‘Province Wellesly Run (PWR) 2019’ will be held at Padang Pemuda Merdeka in Butterworth on July 21.
State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee said the event was to promote Seberang Perai as an up and coming venue for sports events on the mainland of Penang.
“As running has become a trend in Penang for the past few years, take the opportunity to join in and also encourage your family and friends to take part as well,” he told a press conference on March 28.
“We are targeting 3,000 participants for the 12km competition run and 5km fun run.
“The proceeds from the event will be used to conduct community projects and host other programmes by ThinkCity and Seberang Perai Municipal Council (MPSP).”
PWR 2019 will provide an opportunity to connect with the various communities which in turn will help promote the unity among Malaysians.
It is organised by Safetyware, MyCO2, VA partners and Junior Chamber International (JCI) Bukit Mertajam and supported by Think City and MPSP.
The entry fee is RM60 for the 12km route and RM40 for the 5km route.
Participants have been urged to register themselves early as the registration closes on May 5.
Also present were MyCO2 group managing director Louis Ooi, Safetyware group managing director Wong Kee Wei, VA Partners managing director Kam Lian Hooi and JCI Bukit Mertajam president Teow Chian Siang.
