PENANGITES are hoping to increase the compliance rate in the state.
Some are desiring for a total compliance of the movement control order (MCO) to help flatten the Covid-19 curve.
Suffian Alias, 34, who is an employee of Penang Public Works Department, said it is everyone’s responsibility to obey the law.
“Every individual must follow the advice of the authorities for us to stand triumphant over the Covid-19 disease.
“We must also take care of our personal hygiene,” he said.
Suffian said that it would be good for the MCO to be extended.
“This is to ensure that the Covid-19 infection is eradicated totally before the people resume their daily routine,” he said.
Private sector employee Shankar Vincent, 48, said the MCO was important to contain the outbreak.
“The MCO is crucial although it has caused an impact to our economy. I will support the Government’s decision if it decides to extend the MCO.
“We have to do what is necessary to free us from this outbreak. Obey the instructions given.
“Practise the 1m social distancing rule and wear a face mask,” he said.
Engineer Tan Lip Fong, 33, said the public were more aware of the need to obey the MCO.
“People are more aware of their safety. We can see more people wearing the face masks when they are outdoor, buying groceries.
“The public are able to view the situation clearer now. This is a collective responsibility.
“We must not go out unnecessarily. Buy your groceries in bulk. Stay at home,” he said.
A 56 years old cafeteria operator in USM , Anna Marry Joseph said that even if the MCO continues, her cafe will be still operating as it caters to the students in USM who are unable to return home due to the lockdown.
“Most of the foreign students as well as local students are been taken care by the university, that is why we are still operating our cafeteria ( Fajar Harapan Hostel ). The students do not got out of the campus.
“Only when it is really safe out there the MCO should be lifted, till that we have to endure this difficult time with great courage.
“I believe everybody knows very well with the dos and don’ts since we have already entered the 24th day of the MCO.
