THE Pusat Latihan Zakat (Pulaza) at Balik Pulau is now ready to accommodate low-risk Covid-19 Malaysian patients from the low-risk Covid-19 centre (LRRC) at the Balik Pulau Sports Complex.

Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said Pulaza, which was previously used as a Covid-19 quarantine centre for those who had returned to Penang from abroad, was to avoid overcrowding and unsanitary conditions at the sports complex.

“The transfer will happen today (Jan 7) according to the state Health Department to ease the already crowded Balik Pulau Sports Complex,” Chow said during a press conference at Wisma DAP in Jalan Rangoon, George Town.

Asked by a reporter that the LRRC at Pulaza lacks facilities, Chow said the state Health Department is aware of the shortcomings and is looking into it.

“The state Health Department is aware of it, and the immediate repair works should be done accordingly to ensure the patients are treated in a safe and conducive environment,” Chow added.
