PUPILS at SJKC Keong Hoe are now enjoying an enhanced learning experience thanks to several recent facility upgrades.

The primary school headmaster Lim Wei Lun said the resource centre, music room, science lab, and waiting shelter have been upgraded.

“The school has also acquired 250 sets of new chairs and tables for the pupils.

“We extend our gratitude to Bayan Baru MP Sim Tze Tzin, Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan, the school Board of Governors, the school’s Parent-Teacher Association, the school’s Alumni Association, as well as the teachers and pupils for their contributions and support to the school through activities conducted during SJKC Keong Hoe’s 100th anniversary last year.

“The students have shown great enthusiasm in their studies. They utilise the resource centre to access reading materials and exchange knowledge with their peers.

“Additionally, the new science lab has generated excitement among students, enabling them to conduct scientific experiments.

“This upgrade allows teachers to implement science lessons more comprehensively, significantly enhancing pupils’ understanding and knowledge of the subject,” he said in his speech at the school today.

SJKC Keong Hoe held an opening ceremony of the upgraded facilities today, attended by Sim, Kumaresan and northeast district education officer Mohamad Zawawi Ahmad.

SJKC Keong Hoe’s Board of Governors chairman Datuk Khaw Teong Guan said the school’s successes today are a testament to the dedication of community members who have enthusiastically supported the fundraising activities for the school’s centenary celebration.

“With your support, SJKC Keong Hoe can continuously improve, offering a renewed learning environment for our pupils.

“On behalf of the Board, I extend heartfelt thanks to all the generous individuals.

“The new facilities not only create a more pleasant environment but also symbolise the school’s ongoing pursuit of excellence and quality education, enhancing educational standards.

“I hope the pupils will make the most of these new facilities, continue to strive for excellence in their studies, and carry forward the spirit of progress, creating a brighter future,” he added.

Sim was pleased to witness the school’s refreshed appearance.

“I remembered when I first stepped into SJKC Keong Hoe some 15 years ago, the conditions and facilities were far from ideal and quite basic.

“However, over the years, through the efforts of the school authorities, the Parent-Teacher Association, and various community members, step by step, the school has undergone enhancement work and renovations.

“As a result, today the school boasts facilities such as an air-conditioned hall, a science lab, and a music room, making it a very progressive institution.

“These facilities were hard-earned, with each improvement requiring public fundraising and allocations from Federal and state legislators.

“Therefore, I hope the pupils will cherish these facilities,” he said.

Sim also allocated RM70,000 for the school to instal fans and computers, as well as to upgrade the music room.

Kumaresan also allocated RM8,000 for the school to be equipped with a smart board.

“There are 11 schools in Batu Uban and I will ensure that each school is equipped with at least a smart board to enhance the students’ learning experience,” he said.

Kumaresan added that education is the foundation for nurturing human capital for the future.
