OVER 250 women entrepreneurs built their networks and learned the skills on how to grow successful businesses during the Intensive Entrepreneurial Course at PICCA Convention Centre, Butterworth Arena, here.
The entrepreneurial course, which was part of the Penang Women Entrepreneur Mentoring Programme (PWEMP) 4.0, was organised by the Penang Women’s Development Corporation (PWDC).
The PWEMP is a Penang government initiative aimed at helping to develop women entrepreneurs.
State Social Development, Welfare and Non-Islamic Religious Affairs Committee chairperson Lim Siew Khim congratulated the participants for taking the step forward to grow their businesses and networks.
“The PWEMP provides mentors who will help, guide, and advise you.
“Entrepreneurship is always associated with men because they have risk-taking behaviour, are hardworking, innovative, and have big ambitions.
“Women are also capable of such qualities.
“I want you to break this gender stereotype.
“Your success is our success,” Lim said in her speech on Aug 19.
She thanked the chief mentors and mentors for their hard work. Lim also thanked PWDC for designing and implementing the PWEMP 4.0 programme.
Meanwhile, PWDC chief executive officer Ong Bee Leng briefed the participants on the background of the PWEMP initiative.
