PENANG Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) has partnered with Dell Technologies to launch the ‘Develop with Dell’ programme to empower university and college students in Penang.

The programme aims to equip university and college students in Penang with information technology (IT), digital and soft skills. Among the essential skills are client technologies, enterprise foundations, and career readiness.

The participants will have access to a special curriculum based on comprehensive training modules Dell has developed over the years for its partners and customers. The participants will receive a certificate of completion from Dell Education Services and PYDC upon completing the programme.

PYDC general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling said the ‘Develop with Dell’ programme was an excellent example of a public-private partnership that would benefit the future of youths.

“We are grateful for all the support from Dell, from idea to curriculum, to execution,” she said during the launching ceremony at Dell SWTC in Bayan Lepas recently.

Dr Gwee said PYDC’s mission is to educate, develop and empower young people in Penang through a holistic approach.

Dell Technologies human resources director (Malaysia, South Asia and Emerging Markets) Andy Muniandy said the company was proud to partner with PYDC in empowering youths to join the workforce.

“Dell is bringing its expertise in the IT industry into the programme’s curriculum. We hope that the programme will give the participants the edge in building their careers,” Andy said.

Meanwhile, Dell Technologies customer/technical training, and education services (Asia Pacific and Japan) director Jenn Owe-Lee said Dell’s customers and partners had benefitted from its robust training programmes for years.

“This collaboration with PYDC will see a customised version that will help the students gain insights and become competitive talents in their chosen industry.

“It also aligns with our global initiative of ‘Changing the Face of Tech’ (CFT) where we focus on attracting and empowering talents from diverse backgrounds.

“We look beyond the standard pool of candidates to recruit and establish a uniquely strong diverse workforce via three pillars – Engage, Educate, and Employ,” she said.

Beginning in October this year, participants of the ‘Develop with Dell’ programme will join a 10 to 12-week training session at Dell’s Education Services Training Centre at Plot 27, Jalan Sungai Keluang, Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone Phase 4.
