PLENTY of activities and competitions have been lined up for the highly anticipated SEGi University & Colleges ‘Game On Expo’ event this year.
The two-day event returns for its second year and is organised by the SEGi University & Colleges and Paradigm Mall, Realme, and in collaboration with the Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), AlphaGo Motorrad, Celsius, Dadi Cinema, DE Entertainment, Magnus Games Studio, Neutrovis, Sony Malaysia, Spectruck, and TT Racing.
Game On Expo 2023 will be held at Paradigm Mall in Petaling Jaya on April 29 and 30 from 10am to 10pm.
The event also will feature the Youth eSports Challenge, including the popular video game, Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile. Participants will battle it out to win amazing prizes.
There will also be a cosplay and lookalike challenge, a dance challenge, and lucky draws, with prizes worth RM40,000.
PYDC general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling said the PYDC is proud to fully support the event as the corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SEGi University & Colleges back in 2021.
“PYDC is also committed to continue supporting initiatives to empower esports within the youth, as well as to collaborate with higher learning institutions such as SEGi University & Colleges for creating more programmes for the youth,” said Dr Gwee during a press conference held at the SEGi University Kota Damansara on March 29.
Also present were Penang Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee and SEGi University & Colleges Outreach & Partnership director Edward Low.
Soon expressed his support for this initiative and welcomed SEGi University & Colleges and other parties to reach out and collaborate with PYDC to continue supporting the youth.
He also urged the youth, especially from Malaysia and Penang, to participate in this event.
Low said SEGi acknowledged that the youth of today are a generation of learners who thrive in the world of gaming.
“With this in mind, we proudly present the Game On Expo, a platform that employs esports as a revolutionary approach to education,” he said.
