MORE than 100 students from several colleges in Penang have successfully completed the five-day digital marketing course via Zoom platform.
The digital marketing course, which came to an end today, was organised by the Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC) in collaboration with DISTED College Penang and Kolej Vokasional Batu Lanchang.
Students from Kolej Vokasional Butterworth and Kolej Vokasional Nibong Tebal also participated in the programme.
PYDC general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling said the main objective of the course was to equip the students with the basics of digital marketing.
“This includes content marketing, as well as exposing students to tools on Google Ads, Facebook, Instagram and many more that one could use to generate business.
“The digital marketing course consisted of five key areas such as search engine optimisation, social media marketing, Google Ads and content marketing.
“We want to ensure that our youths can gain understanding of how digital marketing works on various platforms from industry players.
“After all, digital marketing skill is an essential skill for students nowadays, especially for fresh graduates.
“And we hope after this programme, they will be more confident to apply all the skills that they learn through this course because by learning digital marketing skills, it could enhance the marketability of future graduates,” Dr Gwee said in her address via Zoom today.
State Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee, who then officiated the closing ceremony, commended PYDC for organising the course for the students to become marketable.
“This programme serves as a mechanism to enhance and leverage the digital marketing skills of our young generation so that Penang can take the lead in the digitalised era.
“And I am indeed very glad that our Penang youths have attended this session proactively. This shows that they have high interest and awareness about the importance of digital marketing for their future career.
“With the rise of social media over the past few years, digital marketing has become part of the content marketing for connecting directly with consumers.
“Thus, I hope that our youths have gained a fruitful insight and knowledge from the five-day course.
“I am sure that there will be much information and knowledge from this course that our participants can adopt and adapt to their future endeavours,” he added.
