PYDC communications executive Ryan Brendon Joseph said the participants could choose to enrol themselves in more than one course.

“For students who would like to register, they only need to pay RM20 per course, but for non-students, the fee is RM200.

“They should also have good proficiency in English as the lesson will be conducted in English.

“The programme aims to help youth to gain new knowledge and cultivate awareness among youth about the world of digitisation, especially in the e-sports industry.

“It also serves as a platform for youth to unleash their potential and march towards becoming young digital talent.

“Each course is limited to 30 participants, thus we call upon all Penang youth as well as those who study in Penang to grab this opportunity,’’ he added.

Meanwhile state Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee said the programme, would not only empower the youth, but also be an important investment for the youth to hone their technical skills.

“With the high demand, I believe this e-sport development courses will bring excellent impact on Penang youth.

“We must understand that e-sports is not only about playing games, but it creates an ecosystem that would help strengthen the economy in our country,’’ Soon said.

Apart from that, PYDC general manager  Dr Gwee Sai Ling said the launch of the series would be instrumental in making people to have a better understanding towards  e-sport industry.

“We want to open everyone’s mind and change their perspective on things related to game developing .

“One does not necessarily need to be addicted to playing video games in order to be a game developer.

“Besides that, the courses are also friendly towards gamers and non-gamers. We also hope the e-sport industry would help to generate various job opportunities for our younger generation.

“The Penang state government, together with PYDC, is dedicated in promoting the digital talent of youth, through the Penang Young Digital Talent platform,’’ Gwee added.
