THE Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), in collaboration with several universities and colleges, will be organising the 2nd International Youth Conference 2022, themed ‘Better Mental Health and Well-Being for Youth’.
Scheduled to take place on Dec 17 at Universiti Sains Malaysia, the conference is aimed at gathering youth, academicians, scholars and researchers to share their knowledge and new ideas, while discussing current development related to youth issues.
The conference will be jointly organised by several institutions, which include host Universiti Sains Malaysia, INTI International College Penang, Han Chiang University College of Communication, SENTRAL College Penang, Batu Lancang Vocational College, Association of International Business and Professional Management (Indonesia) and the Star Scholars Network (USA).
PYDC general manager Dr Gwee Sai Ling said interested participants are required to submit their original works to the organisers according to the theme.
“They must then be fully prepared to present their work at the conference.
“All the submissions will be evaluated in terms of their relevance and originality,” she said during the IYC 2022 press conference at USM today.
The conference is open to Malaysians and non-Malaysians aged 15 to 35 only.
Malaysian local and international students get to participate for free, while Malaysians who are non-students, will be charged RM40.
A fee of US$10 will be charged for each foreign participant.
Registration can be done via www.pydc.com.my/iyc2022 from July 5 to November 25 this year.
Meanwhile, USM School of Management Dean Prof Dr Noor Hazlina Ahmad said IYC is a dynamic youth engagement platform for young people to understand the importance of good mental health.
“With IYC, our youth will be recharged with positive energy and momentum.
“IYC can be a potential means for engaging our youth, bringing benefits not only to the youth themselves, but also to the community, from the energy, ideas and values that our youth contribute,” she said.
In a related development, Gwee said individuals are also allowed to form groups to participate in the conference, without exceeding more than five members in each group.
“Each participant or group will be given five minutes to present their works.
“We are targeting 300 people to join this conference,” she added.
Among others present during the press conference were USM School of Management Associate Prof Dr Daisy Kee Mui Hung, Han Chiang University College of Communication vice-chancellor Dr Beh Kok Hooi, School of Business and Management Dean Dr Jocelyne Lee, INTI International College of Penang student experience director Damian Lee, SENTRAL College Penang deputy principal Tan Peng Hooi, Batu Lancang Vocational College Industrial Liaison and Training head of unit Oh Zi Jian and Big Domain chief executive officer Henry Tye.
