“This competition aims to empower young musicians and give them a platform to showcase their talent.

“Open to individuals aged 15 to 35, it consists of two categories: High School Category (15-18 years old) and the Open Category (18-35 years old).

“Participants can compete individually or in small groups of up to five members,” Gooi said during a press conference at Komtar today.

The registration starts from today until Dec 30.

Gooi noted that PYDC is partnering with the Chinese Consulate in Penang for the fourth time, following previous successful programmes, such as a TikTok video competition, a Chinese orchestra competition, and a multicultural dance competition.

“There are two stages in the competition: the preliminary round and the live performance at the finals.

“Participants must submit a recording of their singing, not exceeding two minutes, through the registration link https://forms.gle/5PyQEsAbM4KhmehC6.

“Those who qualify will advance to the finals, which will be held at Queensbay Mall on February 8 2025,” he added.

The recording must be purely vocal, without background music, backing tracks, or minus one arrangements.

There are no restrictions on the language of the songs.

The total cash prize for this competition is RM13,600.
