THE successor of retired national squash darling Datuk Nicol David may be found soon.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow said the possibility is there because Malaysia has a good talent pool in sports.
“I have faith that the successor can emulate Nicol’s achievements in the global arena.
“We have young talented players who are competitive,” Chow said at the PBA 17th Malaysian Junior Open 2019 welcome dinner at St Giles The Wembley Hotel today.
The competition, which started yesterday (July 9) until July 14, attracted 700 participants from 18 countries.
Also present at the welcome dinner were state Youth and Sports Committee chairman Soon Lip Chee and state Women and Family Development, Gender Inclusiveness and Religions Other Than Islam Committee chairman Chong Eng.
Nicol had on February this year announced her retirement from the sport after 20 years.
