CHIEF Minister Lim Guan Eng in his winding up speech gave a wonderful surprise to civil servants in Penang when he announced that
they will receive a bonus amounting to ¾ of their salary or minimum RM700.
“The State Government recognises that the civil service in Penang has made great leaps in transformation. They have improved and
are revitalised in carrying out their tasks. As an appreciation for their service and also the State Government’s care as they are facing
rising costs of living, the state has agreed to provide a special Financial Aid or Bonus Raya.
A total of 4,178 civil servants will receive the bonus,” Lim said.
Teachers in religious schools and Chinese private schools will also receive between RM200 to RM300.
The bonus will be paid before Hari Raya which falls in early July.
In total, it will costs the state RM7.95 million.
Staff of the two local governments and state affliliate corporations will also receive the same.
“In 2015, the special financial aid was also given. Half a month salary or minumum RM600 was handed out which cost the state
RM5.22 million,”Lim said.
