TWENTY-FIVE orphans from Persatuan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Islam, Pulau Pinang each received ‘duit raya’ and a goody bag at the Hari Raya celebration held at Kompleks Bukit Jambul on June 25.
The gifts were presented to them by Penang Governor, Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas.
Also present were Kompleks Bukit Jambul Joint Management Board chairman (KBJ JMB) Datuk Jugal Kishor Shivlal and Management of Committee (MOC) chairman KH Chan. Joining them were Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan and Pakistan honorary consul Abdul Rafique Abdul Karim.
Jugal, in his speech, said it was heart warming to see the culture of harmony and unity displayed by citizens of a racially diverse Malaysia.
“Thus, KBJ management is proud to have friends and business associates of all backgrounds joining in the Hari Raya celebration.
“This spirit of togetherness is something we can all be proud of, for it enriches our lives.
“Hari Raya is also a time of reflection – to forgive and be appreciative of the blessings we have in life,” he added.
Jugal also expressed his thanks to all KBJ tenants, owners, merchants and business associates who have supported KBJ through the years.
“Thank you for being part of Kompleks Bukit Jambul’s journey as we continue striving to improve ourselves to better serve the community and be the place for everyone”.
During the function, guests were feted to a variety of food. Besides the good company, there were also a Gamelan Dance performance and a colourful fashion show featuring the collections of KBJ’s tenants.
A live band provided entertainment during the dinner function.
